How long does it take to make a pot?

This questions happens all the time. . . It’s kind of a tough one to answer - the short answer is it depends. But really how long does it take? 5 1/2 days. Here’s what you really want to know. . . Each time varies quite a bit but you’ll get the gist. Let’s start with clay, it’s wedged-similar to needing bread dough (5 minutes), shaped it into a ball or cone shape (1 min) and placed on the wheel, hands create a unique one of a kind shape (30 min), let it dry (24 hours), put it back on the wheel and trim the bottom (10 min), add designs or texture or a handle (20 min), let it dry slowly and completely (3 days), put it in a kiln and fire it (8 hrs), let the kiln cool completely (18 hrs), take it out of the kiln and glaze it (20 minutes), put it back in the kiln and fire it again (10 hrs), let the kiln cool completely (24 hrs), take the piece out of the kiln and sand the bottom (1 min) - VOILA! So that’s about 5 1/2 days. . .for one pot?? Yup

How long does it take to have custom pottery made and shipped?

There are several factors that help determine how long a custom order will take and each one is different. Right now, it takes about 4-6 weeks.

Can the serving dishes go in the oven?

Yes. . BUT——these pots have reached temperatures over 2000 degrees so they are very durable but ceramic wares do not like to be shocked. This means that when used for baking, they should go into the oven before it’s preheated.
